Mycelium Pleurotus ostreatus
Description
- Fleshy, medium-sized mushroom (6-13 cm)
- With bluish tones at the beginning, darker the lower the growing temperature.
Instructions
Prepare wheat or barley straw cut about 3 cm long and boil it for 30 minutes in order to sterilize it. Drain the water well and put the straw in a plastic bag well mixed with 20% of mushroom seeds. You can also use cereal pellets: https://lacasadelassetas.com/es/cultivo-de-setas/1891-pellet-de-cereal-sustrato-de-micorrizacion.html
Example: if the packet of seeds weighs 200 grams there would be 800 grams of straw
Put the bale to germinate for about 25 days at a temperature of about 20 25 º, In this time the bale will be compact and full of white rooted mycelium, which would indicate the success of the work.
Then lower the temperature to about 15 º with a humid environment, without drafts and without direct sunlight. We will wait about 30 days for the mushrooms to sprout. They will come out in bunches of mushrooms every so often, depending on the temperature and humidity of the place. Once the mushrooms are harvested, clean if there are hardness in the holes, remains of the trunk of the mushrooms, thus facilitating the next fructification.
Suitable place of cultivation:
Put the bale in a garage, in the pool house, the well house of the orchard or on the porch of a villa, in any of these places, as long as there are no air currents or direct sun.
Another option is to spread the seeds in a damp, covered area without drafts or direct sun, digging the soil a little and placing the seeds inside with sterilized straw. Wait 60 days for them to fructify, maintaining the humidity.
Cultivation characteristics
- Fast in incubation and fructification
- Fructifies easily below 20ºC (68ºF).
- Can be cultivated between 5 and 20ºC, although the best results will be obtained at 15/17ºC.
Recommendations
- Do not allow temperatures above 30ºC in the INCUBATION for prolonged periods of time.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature during the incubation phase that could lead to condensation on the substrate.
- Once the incubation phase is finished, start to lower the temperature gently.
- When we begin to see PRIMORDIA in the holes of the packages, we can begin to ventilate more intensely.
- Maintain a relative humidity between 82 and 87% during the CULTIVATION PHASE .
- Keep CO2 levels as low as possible, respecting the rest of the parameters.
- Harvest the fruits once the edge of the mushroom appears stretched and before it starts to break.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature and humidity throughout the cultivation phase, especially in the periods between seasons.
Fate
It is a very versatile mushroom. Depending on the number of fructifications obtained, mushrooms can be obtained for marketing in bulk or for packaged use.
