Description

Soybean hulls (bagasse) 2.5 kg is a supplement designed to increase the yield of your mushroom crops. Its nitrogen and protein compounds accelerate mycelium colonization and improve substrate structure, achieving an ideal balance between moisture, aeration, and nutrient availability.

Suitable for sawdust or straw-based substrates, soybean hulls are key in the MasterMix technique (50/50 mixture with wood), widely used in Pleurotus (oyster mushroom) and Ganoderma lucidum (reishi). In addition to increasing productivity, it provides a manageable and stable texture that promotes mycelial development and primordium formation.

  • Composition: 100% selected soybean hulls (bagasse)
  • Substrate improvement: increased aeration and water retention for vigorous mycelium
  • Nutrient enhancer: nitrogen-rich supplement for sawdust/straw poor in N
  • Compatibility: ideal in MasterMix 50% soybean hulls + 50% sawdust
  • Easy to apply: hydrate to ~60% moisture and sterilize before inoculating
  • Objective: to increase productivity and crop uniformity

Recommended use: mix 50% soybean hulls with 50% sawdust; add water to ~60% moisture (approx. 1.4 L per kg of dry substrate); sterilize at 121°C for 90 minutes; allow to cool and inoculate with the chosen mycelium. 2.5 kg bag format.

Uses of soybean hulls in mushroom cultivation:

  1. Nutrient source: Soybean hulls are rich in protein, nitrogen, and other essential nutrients that promote mycelium growth. This makes them an excellent nutritional supplement for substrates based on nitrogen-poor materials such as sawdust or straw.
  2. Improves substrate structure: It helps maintain good aeration and moisture retention in the substrate, which is crucial for mycelium development.
  3. Increases productivity: By improving the nutritional value of the substrate, soybean hulls can increase crop yield, i.e., produce more mushrooms per unit of substrate.
  4. Economical and sustainable alternative: It is an agricultural by-product available in many regions, making it an economical and environmentally friendly option for growers.
  5. Compatibility with edible mushrooms: It is particularly useful in mushroom crops such as Pleurotus sp. (oyster mushroom) and Ganoderma lucidum (reishi), which develop well in substrates supplemented with nitrogen-rich materials.
