HEIGHT: 60 - 80 cm

Mushroom production (up to 120 kg/ha per year): mushroom production begins when the plant reaches 8-10 years of age.
WOOD PRODUCTION: high quality wood, widely used in carpentry. The straight beams resulting from its natural pruning are ideal for sawmill work.
FRUIT PRODUCTION: this conifer produces pine nuts, a nut of high culinary value widely used in Mediterranean cuisine.
PLANTING DATE: from September to May.
PLANTING FRAMES: 4×5 m becoming 8×5 m after 15 years.
GROWTH: Pinus pinea lives up to 200 years and reaches 20 m in height.

The best time to plant this pine is from October to November and from February to April and, if there is abundant water, at any time, although it is advisable to water the first two years in the summer season when there is more drought.
Fungicide should never be used on these pines since it would kill the chanterelle fungus.
