To use it you must slide the green toothed metal part with force and at a 45º angle over the cylindrical magnesium bar . This friction will produce a large amount of magnesium sparks about 2.5 cm in diameter , which near dry leaves and pieces of branches or other flammable materials, will allow you to light an emergency fire
