Organic ink mushroom, Coprinus comatus
The scaly ink fungus (coprinus comatus) is a common fungus that often grows on lawns along gravel paths and vacant lots. The mushroom reaches a size of five to fifteen centimeters and has an egg-shaped cap. The cap of the mushroom is white with a smooth, light brown center and is covered with large, curly scales.
