The Muela Kodiak Asta is a medium-sized knife, ideal for use as a complement in hunting or bushcraft activities. It has one of the most versatile blade profiles on the market today and will respond effectively in any type of hostile environment (jungle, mountain, desert).
MoVa steel
The Kodiak knife is made of stainless steel . This type of alloy has a high content of two components: molybdenum and vanadium, capable of withstanding high temperatures, even up to abrasion . In addition, it allows to obtain one of the best cutting edges of the national market.
The MoVa steel reaches up to 61HRC , so it is a blade with a very remarkable hardness, which will guarantee very good performance in durability and cuts of all types (impact type machete or in works of effort).
Its exact composition is 0.53% carbon, 0.50% manganese, 0.35% silicon, 14.50% chromium, 0.50% molybdenum and 0.18% vanadium.
Handle
One of the most remarkable features of the Kodiak knife is its natural handle made of deer horn and alpaca ferrule, which gives it a unique and special beauty. In addition, it has a hole in the handle to equip a rope or paracord and, thus, increase the grip.
This type of handle has an ergonomic structure resistant to high temperatures, and has a rough design that fits better in the hand, and reduces the possibility of falling the knife. The deer antler provides excellent resistance to multi-directional impacts .
Blade
The manufacturer Muela designed a full tang blade that gives the knife more strength and resistance, as it will never separate from the hilt. The structure of the blade will allow different cutting jobs under all kinds of pressure without any weakening.
The cutting edge is straight with an angle of less than 30 degrees, which will allow a significant increase in the work surface with clean cuts. As for the shape of the blade, it has a Drop point profile , used especially for hunting, as it has a strong and robust tip .
Sheath
The Muela Kodiak knife is equipped with a high quality leather sheath to equip the knife in all conditions. It includes a belt adapter to make it more comfortable to carry. The sheath is overprinted with the knife manufacturers logo .
