The edible and toxic mushrooms of the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama M. BECERRA PARRA y E. ROBLES DOMINGUEZ
Editorial La SerraniaThese lands, straddling the provinces of Granada and Malaga, far from being a region alien to the ever-growing fondness for collecting wild mushrooms in Andalusia, treasure an ancestral mycophilous culture that is lost in the memory of the people of their villages, in which the negrito (Helvella leucopus) is the queen species of the local gastronomy.
In more recent times, this hobby gave rise to the Jornadas Micologicas de Jayena y Fornes, in the framework of which the idea of publishing this work arose, given the lack of books that made reference to the mushrooms that grow in this region and the need to value a resource of great tourist and economic potential.
Thus, a publication has been achieved in which through its pages the enthusiast can learn about this protected natural area, its forests, what mushrooms are, how to avoid poisoning or how to cook the most delicious mushrooms, among other aspects. Most of the book focuses on the description of the main 40 edible and toxic species that can be collected in the mountains of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, which are described in a pleasant and didactic way.
In short, we are facing a book designed to promote the dissemination of a certainly complex world, such as mushrooms, and encourage mushroom enthusiasts to know this natural park that keeps so many mycological treasures.
