Receiving your growing kit: remove the box or bag that protected your kit during transport. Check that your kit is protected by a transparent hatching bag. If so, cut off the top of the plastic and replace it as a window to see how the mycelium spreads on the culture surface.

Instructions

  • Cut the plastic along the lines marked on the bale
  • Remove the cut plastic and spread the peat mulch covering the compost
  • Water by wetting the peat, not spraying. Keep the cover peat always wet afterwards.
  • Optimum temperature 20º C
  • Do not pour water on the mushrooms, but on the peat to wet the roots

where to place the kit? Place your kit in a clean and ventilated room. Remember that the recommended (average) temperature is 13-25 °Cwith an ambient humidity of 80%. Avoid direct sunlight, garages and spaces near boilers or radiators.

how do the mushrooms come out? The mycelium develops forming a white mantle on the surface of the kit. You will be able to see its evolution thanks to the transparent window of the box. When the mycelium begins to show the mushroom primordia, you can remove the wooden lid to see the complete development of your crop.

  • Mushroom picking: each mushroom requires a different treatment. Pick the mushroom by twisting the stem at the base, while the inner layers of the cap remain pink.
  • Average production of 1.5 kg of Portobello mushroom (Agaricus Brunnescens) in a period of three months.
  • It makes several blooms, harvest when the mushrooms are grown and wait for new productions
  • Keep the covering peat always humid

Watering: the kit does not usually need water until after the first production. However, if the substrate is dry, water the peat once a week (minimum). Then spray your kit once/twice a week after mushroom production. During the summer months the kit needs more humidity than the rest of the year, spray it regularly to prevent the substrate from drying out.
