The objective of this guide is the correct identification, by means of dichotomous keys, of the 584 fungi described . The description of each species includes the scientific name and the vulgar names, if any, in Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician, and the symbols indicating their degree of edibility or toxicity.

The macroscopic and microscopic descriptions allow us to confirm the identification made from the keys. In the section on habitat and distribution, the ecological requirements of the species are indicated and the observations reflect its most outstanding characteristics and their comparison with nearby species. Magnificent color photographs of each species complete the descriptive text. All species descriptions are grouped alphabetically by order. Also included are chapters dedicated to the history of mycology, ecology, systematics, taxonomy, chemical reagents, intoxications and macro and microscopic morphology with the definition of countless mycological terms.
